In a survey by the Saturday Telegraph 50 UK motoring journalists were asked to predict future classics. The Audi TT came in 8th.
Mk 1 Audi TT’s are now looking a bargain on the used car market with reasonable examples going for under £3000 and low mileage cars for under £4000. Compared to a VW R32 they look very good value, in particular the 3.2 v6 engine model developing 248 bhp and with the dual-clutch DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox) and the special edition Quattro Sport from 2005 with a 49 kg weight reduction and power increase to 237 bhp from the turbocharged 1.8 engine.
Whatever critics have said about the TT it remains one of the most popular, best looking and performing sports cars on the road today. After 16 years, Audi can consider it a fantastic success.
